Terry DeAngelo, an experienced registered nurse and decorated U.S. Air Force veteran, focuses his legal practice on complex medical malpractice and catastrophic personal injury litigation.

A Philadelphia native, DeAngelo earned his undergraduate degree with honors in nursing at LaSalle University. While at LaSalle, DeAngelo was a member of the rowing team and the wrestling club. During this time, he was a researcher for the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute for Chemical Defense, where he conducted research to develop antidotes to chemical warfare agents. 

 

Before deciding to join the military, DeAngelo became a registered clinical nurse. During this time he cared for patients with spinal cord injuries and neurodegenerative disorders.

 

Following his undergraduate experience and nursing school, DeAngelo enrolled in Air Force Officer Training School. He rose to the rank of captain in the Air Force Nurse Corps while working clinically in Washington, D.C. DeAngelo later volunteered to deploy in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, where he was attached to Combined Joint Special Operations Task Force - Afghanistan, led by U.S. Army Special Forces.

DeAngelo worked as a nurse/medic in support of the Navy SEALs, providing downrange trauma care and mass casualty response. While stateside, he provided care for traumatically injured troops and later managed a staff of nurses and technicians providing care at an ambulatory surgery center that handled more than 1,500 surgical cases annually. DeAngelo earned the Army Commendation Medal in 2013 and the Air Force Commendation Medal in 2014 along with Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Star and the Air Force Expeditionary Service Ribbon with Gold Border.

Upon his honorable discharge from the Air Force, DeAngelo attended the Temple University Beasley School of Law. During this time and immediately after graduating he worked as a law clerk with Saltz, Mongeluzzi, Barrett and Bendesky. Next, DeAngelo worked alongside his brother, Joe, as an attorney at Barrett DeAngelo, LLC, in Philadelphia. Following that, DeAngelo practiced at nationally recognized Kline & Specter, P.C. as a personal injury and medical malpractice attorney.  Following that, DeAngelo branched out to form TR DeAngelo Law, LLC.

Recently, in September 2022, DeAngelo was co-counsel in a case that culminated in a jury verdict of $19.7 million for a client whose undiagnosed spinal mass resulted in catastrophic and permanent injuries, including partial paraplegia. The verdict, against a University of Pennsylvania doctor, was the largest medical malpractice case for that year in Pennsylvania. Since 2022, DeAngelo has secured multiple multi-million dollar settlements.

He has been named a Pennsylvania Rising Star for several years, including 2023, by the independent attorney survey group Super Lawyers, placing him among the top 2.5 percent of attorneys in the commonwealth who are 40 or younger or practicing 10 years or less.
